Lens Error (including Canon E1. Error) posting area. Posted September 1. Kath#1 worked, recharged battery. This is the 2nd time I've got the lens error message, first time cleaning the lens worked.
Thanks again. Posted September 1. Power Shot A6. 10, but it took multible hard knocks on my palm to get it working again. It briefly took a swim in my pocket when I fell into a jungle river in Malaysia and of course refused to work. I removed the battery and memory card and dried it off in the sun and watched with horror as beads of moisture came out of the USB sockets. It thought it was damaged beyond repair. When I was back in civilisation I recharged the battery but still no luck and then spontaneously the lens barrel shot open when I wasn't expecting it to do so and I had my hand in the way. It briefly registered a lens error message and then went blank again with the lens barrel extended.
Recharging the battery made no difference so my first thought was that the battery was damaged so when I got back to the UK I ordered and installed a new battery. I got the dreaded lens error message saying that the camera would shut down which it didn't.
I tried the various low level fixes and eventually gently compressed the barrel to try and even out the extension. Bingo it suddenly started behaving although it was still convinced that the memory card was faulty even when I gave it a new one until I took out the battery and the memory card and put them both back in and now it seems to be absolutely fine. I guess I may have shortened the camera's lifespan both from the original bath and fiddling around with the barrel but at 2 years old it was too old for the guarantee and too new to get rid of. Firstly I will say get the right screwdriver a Wiha philips #0.
Secondly if you have an odd fault like E1. The E1. 8 fault had the lens stuck.
My Canon A1200 failed on the 2nd last day of an international holiday. The lens failed to retract after taking a knock. After getting home, and being a bit of. Service manuals, repair manuals, owner's manuals for Panasonic Sony JVC Samsung Sharp Pioneer Sanyo Hitachi Philips Kenwood LG Toshiba & others. Comments about Canon PowerShot G7 X Digital Camera: I bought this for my wife to start learning the basics of photography. Once you learn your way around the menu.
I stripped down the camera and then the lens. I am still struggling to get the lens together even with photos lines drawn across the parts etc. Not easy at all but it beats the rubiks cube for entertainment value. The ribbons can be sourced on ebay from china but you will have to solder the tiny connectors on and remove from original or source them new. Not all ribbons need connectors. I bought some but needed none. The E1. 6 meant the CPU could not talk to a peripheral device after swapping all the boards I came to the conclusion and observation that the fault was indeed on the Main board and a large chip (Analog Devices) had a small burn bubble on its surface.
So I used the main board from the E1. E1. 6 fault camera work. Expecting the calibrations and adjustment to all be out I was pleasantly surprised with well focused photos and a very well thought out compact camera for manual control. Put it in a ebay sourced cheap underwater case and I am ready for snorkeling in Turkey.
The lens was like 1mm out and the protective blades almost closed, so it was so easy. Tried new batteries, then removing memory card.
Tried wiggling and pushing on the lens. Finally, banged the camera firmly down on the desk 5 or 6 times. Used your technique #1. It needed quite a strong force though. It is now working fine. I had it fixed and just got it back on saturday.
It's like a new camera again, works like new. This is the place I used: www. It was $8. 9 for parts and labor and they cleaned the heck out of the camera and all of the other services they do with their service deal. Great service, thought to recommend them to those that need help with this. Highly recommend them.
All the best to everyone going through this. Obviously theres a problem with these cameras there making. Thanks. Posted June 1. Glen Heslop. Powershot S2 IS This workrd for me: Lens out when off, when turned on lens retracts, generates an E1. Then i switched on and and the camera worked normally. Lens error, struck, up fixable. Thank you so much for the instruction.
My A4. 10 fixed with technique # 8. WORKED FOR ME IN 2 MINUTES.
I've tried everything so far and it is behaving better but I don't expect it to continue. Friend of mine has had a Panasonic for years and no problem yet. We have had them several years and both of us are very satisfied with them. All of a sudden yesterday, I took 5 shots with my S2 IS and the camera refused to shut off, nor would the lens retract and error code E1. I tried fix #1 and #2 but no luck.
When I followed the directions for Fix #3, the camera was totally repaired and functional. Thank you for your help. The lens failed to retract after taking a knock. After getting home, and being a bit of a techy type and having previously disassembled an A5. I started unscrew the case. As I did this I noticed the off- centre position of the lens. I tried pushing to centre it, heard a click.
I put batteries in it and found there was more movement than before, so after switching off I pressed again collapsing the lens to the retracted position. Switching the lens extended with a few clicking noises so I switched it off and on a few times.
